So, this is my first post from my NEW OFFICE with the FOUR WINDOWS!!! We have been in this office since April 1. By ‘in’ I mean working off a folding table in the conference room. By ‘working’ I mean going to Best Buy and Staples and getting supplies.

No, seriously, we’ve been busting our butts. At least two of us are in court every day. I’ve got a pretty high profile manslaughter trial coming up in May, for which me and one of my partners appeared on an investigative report segment on the telly. I looked good, so I heard. I never like to watch myself on tv right away, I usually get it on tape and watch it months down the road. Anyway, I was a little concerned about the segment, not because of my soundbites, which were pretty good, I think – but because I was trying on a new shade of lipstick and didn’t know how it would come off on screen.

It looked good, according to reports. And I looked tall. But then again, I was sitting down.

My new office is coming together. Our receptionist desk finally came and I freaked out a little about how much it cost and how small it was for how much it cost. But, it looks DAMNED GOOD. Now we are trying to break partner 3 down so we can get a flat screen tv in the reception area. This place screams FLAT SCREEN!!!! We’re working on her, slowly.

In other news, today more or less sucked on the legal front. Our client in that murder case was sentenced today to 10 years. She was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, but it was clear from the judge’s comments at sentencing that she thought our client was guilty of murder, and only got the invol. manslaughter because of some keen legal manuevering on our part. Now, I’ll admit, we were pretty awesome at trial, but we had nuclear physisists on our jury. Last I checked, they weren’t that easy to manipulate. But, the judge had her way and maxed her. The prosecution probably feels vindicated. In their sentencing memo, they actually said that our client committed ‘murder’. If she didn’t get convicted of murder, she did not commit a murder, right? Or am I missing something?

I’m really excited to be blogging from work. The Geek Squad from Best Buy set up our network because that’s all we could afford and they did a stellar job. We are having our open house on May 5 and we’re trying to make this place look drop dead by then, so that all the naysayers will have to eat their words.

And they will. If only we can get the flat screen!
